TB testing became one of the primary requirements for a UK Settlement visa effective 28 February 2013.
Thus, before the UK Spouse Visa or UK Fiancée Visa can be validly issued to the applicant, he or she must undergo the TB Testing.
ECO-Friendly would like to stress, however, that the required TB Testing is not only required for applicants of the UK Settlement Visa, but must also be passed by any UK Visa applicant who applied to stay in the UK for a period longer than six (6) months.
In other countries, the TB Test has been implemented several years ago, but in the Philippines , it was only imposed four (4) months ago.
ECO-Friendly explains that under the rule, all applicants over eleven (11) years old are required to undergo the said examination.
However, children below 11 years old are not automatically exempted from the requirement.
According to UKBA, the parent or guardian of the child applicant must bring the child to an “…approved clinic and complete a health questionnaire for them. The clinician will then decide, based on your answer answers, whether your child needs to be tested for tuberculosis.”
There is only one (1) accredited test clinic in the Philippines, and is located in Makati.
On the date of the TB testing the applicant will be subjected to a chest x-ray.
The whole process takes around 30 minutes, but it is the queuing and waiting that the applicant will have to bear since there are usually a barrage of applicants every day.
ECO-Friendly tip. Arrive early even if you are scheduled at a late slot.
For example, if you are scheduled at 9:30 AM, come as early as 7:00 AM.
You will know what ECO-Friendly means when you get there.
ECO-Friendly will discuss more on this issue next time…
