ECO-FRIENDLY BULLETIN: As of 29 August 2016 the visa fee for a UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa, or any other UK Settlement Visa remains at US$1,625.
ECO-Friendly recently made the payment for a UK Spouse Visa for the abovementioned amount, and likewise paid for the Immigration Health Surcharge for $861.
Take note, however, that these prices are subject to change from time to time, and that should there be any change in fees, this is usually published by the UK government days before the implementation of the rate hike.
Take note also that only applicants for the UK Spouse Visa are required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) as UK Fiancée Visa applicants who are given a maximum allowed stay of six (6) months only are not required to acquire and pay for said IHS.
Under the UK government website, applicants need to pay the following IHS payments:
“£150 per year for a student or Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme) visa, eg £300 for a 2-year visa
£200 per year for all other visa and immigration applications, eg £1,000 for a 5-year visa
Dependants usually need to pay the same amount as the principal applicant.”
Based on ECO’s experience, the payment for the IHS is made in US dollars and paid together with the application.
The UK government website also states that:
“The exact amount you have to pay depends on how much leave you’re granted. You’ll pay half of the yearly amount if your application includes part of a year that is less than 6 months. You’ll pay for a whole year if you’re application includes part of a year that is more than 6 months.”
Remember that there is no refund when applicants for the UK Spouse Visa and UK Fiancée Visa pay for the application. The applicants must therefore be sure that all documents and supporting papers are already at hand and in their possession once they commence with the filing of their application.
With respect to the Immigration Health Surcharge, however, refund is allowed if the application is denied, and all that the applicant has to do is wait for the automatic refund which will be made and deposit in the account of the credit card that was used to make the payment for the IHS.
