According to ECO-Friendly, the UK Immigration authorities prescribe two methods by which Philippine applicants for the UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa or any other UK Settlement Visa may comply with this requirement:
The “gov.uk” website imposes either of the two ways below to fulfill the English language test requisite:
First option – “by passing an approved English language test with at least CEFR level A1 in speaking and listening;”
Second option – “having an academic qualification that was taught in English and is recognized by UK NARIC (National Recognition Information Centre – a worldwide expert which offers expert opinion and advice on any form of qualification) as being equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree.”
Thus, under the second option, the applicant should have studied in a university which the UK NARIC certifies and recognizes as equivalent or parallel to a UK bachelor’s degree and said education must have been taught in the English language.
ECO-Friendly emphasizes that as long as the applicant possesses either of the qualifications mentioned above, he or she shall be considered as to have complied with the English language test requirement.
Most Filipino applicants for the UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa or any other UK Settlement Visa usually opt to take the first option and take the English test in one of the accredited English Testing Site in the Philippines.
Under this choice, the applicant needs to take the test for the “SPEAKING” and “LISTENING” exam.
In one of the accredited test sites located in Manila, Philippines, since the company does not offer tests for the “SPEAKING” and for “LISTENING” only, applicants need to take the test for the whole package which consists of 1. LISTENING; 2. READING; 3. WRITING; and 4. SPEAKING.
Ideally, the test for all modules can be taken for one whole day. But since the “SPEAKING” test is conducted on a “one-on-one” basis, the said test is usually taken on a separate date as that of the other tests. The “SPEAKING” test is typically carried out at least two days ahead of the other tests.
The examinees (applicants for the UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa or any other UK Settlement Visa) are advised to bring their own pencils, preferably Mongol No. 1, as writing materials are not provided by the accredited testing site.
Examinees are also advised by the testing company to arrive at least thirty minutes before the test schedule, but ECO-Friendly suggests test takers to travel early as traffic within the area approaching the test site is very heavy, especially in the morning
Good Luck to all examinees... from ECO-Friendly!
