What is an Entry Clearance?

For applicants of the UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa or any other UK Settlement Visa, an Entry Clearance is the travel document they need to apply for, in order to be permitted entry in the United Kingdom for the purpose of living together with their partners who are either British nationals or permanent UK residents.

The UK government defines an Entry Clearance as, “…the procedure used by Entry Clearance Officers (ECOs) at British missions overseas to check, before a person arrives in the UK, if that person qualifies under the Immigration Rules for entry to the UK.

Now who are Entry Clearance Officers or ECOs?

As ECO-Friendly explained in the homepage of this website, ECOs are the honorable men and women of the British Embassy stationed here in the Philippines, whose official duty is to decide  the fate of your application for a UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa or other UK Settlement Visa.

ECOs are the people responsible for the denial or approval of your UK Visa application, whether for settlement, visit, studies or work. Each and every ECO have completed and passed the full course provided by the UKBA international training team, and are highly-trained professionals who are skilled and efficient in making swift, decisive and impartial decisions.

Now back to the Entry Clearance.

An Entry Clearance is usually also referred to as a visa, which allows its holder to gain entry to the UK.

For applicants of the UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa or UK Settlement Visa, the application to obtain Entry Clearance or Visa to the UK is filed with the UK Embassy here in the Philippines located at The Fort in Taguig City.

ECO-Friendly emphasizes that it is very essential for the UK Spouse Visa, UK Fiancée Visa or any other UK Settlement Visa applicant to attach a complete set of supporting documents in order for their application to be approved.

Since all applications are assessed and evaluated by the ECO, it is important to satisfy the ECO and show that the applicant is truly qualified for the Entry Clearance they are applying for.

As we always say here at ECO-Friendly, “A SATISFIED ECO (Entry Clearance Officer) ISSUES A FAVORABLE AND SATISFACTORY RESULT.” This is how we got our firm’s name ECO-Friendly.

We pride ourselves of filing applications which are friendly to the Entry Clearance Officers (ECO).
