According to the UKBA, “…this new policy reflects the government’s view that users of the appeal system who can afford to pay, should contribute to the system’s cost.”
Under the new rule, appeal fee for a paper consideration shall be charged £80, while the fee for an oral hearing is £140.
The good news, according to ECO-Friendly, is that the rule on the new fees is not applicable to all of the appellants, as only those who can afford to pay are covered by the regulation. As of this writing, however, the UKBA has yet to release the guidelines to determine who shall be exempt from the new payment scheme.
